Nepal's wildlife recovery story is one of the most remarkable in Asian conservation. The Bengal tiger population has grown from 121 individuals in 2009 to over 355 today – Nepal achieving its tiger-doubling target ahead of schedule. The one-horned rhinoceros, once hunted to near extinction (fewer than 100 in the 1960s), now numbers over 750 in Nepal's protected areas. Wild elephants, leopards, sloth bears, gharial crocodiles and over 900 bird species inhabit landscapes that have been protected and allowed to recover over 50 years. For a wildlife traveller, this combination of genuine density and extraordinary conservation success makes Nepal one of the most rewarding destinations in Asia.
Our Nepal luxury wildlife holidays combine these extraordinary animals with the finest lodges, the most experienced naturalist guides and the best access to the parks. Every wildlife program we design is built around matching the right properties and the right guides to the specific expectations and interests of each traveller.
Nepal's original and most visited wildlife park. 952km² of UNESCO-protected forest and grassland in the inner Terai, with 700+ rhinos, 250+ tigers, wild elephants, leopards and 600+ bird species. Our Chitwan partners – Taj Meghauli Serai (inside the park on the Rapti River), Kasara Resort and Barahi Jungle Lodge – deliver both exceptional wildlife access and luxury accommodation. Jeep safaris, jungle walks, canoe trips and Tharu cultural evenings provide a complete safari experience over 2–3 nights.
Nepal's largest and wildest park in the far western Terai. 968km² of undisturbed jungle with Nepal's densest tiger population and virtually no tourist crowds. Tiger tracking on foot with expert trackers is the defining Bardia experience – genuinely wild, genuinely immersive, genuinely different from any other wildlife destination. One-horned rhinos, wild elephants, Gangetic river dolphins and 400+ bird species complete a remarkable wildlife list. Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge provides expert naturalist guiding rooted in 60 years of Nepal wildlife expertise.
For serious wildlife travellers, combining both parks on one trip delivers the complete Nepal wildlife spectrum: Chitwan for its excellent infrastructure, rhino density and reliable sightings; Bardia for its tiger intensity, wilderness character and walking safari experience. We design combined itineraries with efficient connections between the two parks.
Every wildlife safari we arrange is led by guides personally vetted by our team. The guide makes an enormous difference to what you see and how you understand it. We work with naturalists who have spent years tracking individual animals in these parks – who know the territories, the behaviours and the habits that maximise every guest's wildlife encounters.
