The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and free WiFi throughout the property. At the hotel, all rooms are fitted with a desk. Selected rooms also boast a kitchenette with a fridge. All rooms feature a wardrobe. A continental breakfast is served every morning at the property. Guests can grab a bite to eat in the in-house restaurant, which serves a variety of international and local dishes. The Pavilions Himalayas offers a fitness centre. Hiking is among the activities that guests can enjoy near the accommodation. Languages spoken at the reception include English and Hindi. World Peace Pagoda is 2.6 km from The Pavilions Himalayas, while Fewa Lake is 3.6 km away.

Service & facilities

Life revolves around the living and dining area known as Bhetghat (“meeting point”), which is the merest totter away from the infinity pool. Naturally, the spa’s products are custom made, and it acts as the resort’s inner sanctum. Taking part in the day-to-day action on the farm is readily encouraged, and there is plenty in the way of trekking and exploring to be done in the hills. The staff have taken the resort’s ethos to heart, while unfailingly displaying the Nepalese gift for hospitality.

Rooms

There are just 14 villas, divided into three grades with the main difference being the size. All get a private terrace, Himalayan views, shower and tub in the bathroom, Nepalese textiles and artworks, a hearteningly real fireplace, and tech add-ons such as iPod docking stations. High ceilings, wide windows, and a real sense of space and ease round out an incredibly welcoming package. Encouragingly, water recycling plants are in plain view at the back of each villa. Plans are in hand to open a satellite resort – eight tented villas beside Phewa Lake – by autumn 2018.

Food & drink

Organic vegetables, eggs and dairy from the resort farm do much to enliven breakfast. The rice pancakes with Himalayan honey are a sensible choice; poached eggs, labna, herb salad and cashew dukka on toast demonstrate some real imagination; and there’s fresh lassi, juice, and organic teas and coffees too. A similar culinary theme wends its way through the rest of the day: the fish finger starters come with homemade spicy chutney; the salmon steak gets a similarly piquant treatment; there’s also a tempting selection of sushi, while the spag bol is topped with yak cheese. Honey-toasted noodles with ice cream may be a first on the pudding front for many. Meals are served in Bhetghat but taste even better on the outside terrace.
