The Dwarika’s Hotel, in Kathmandu, offers an authentic experience of Nepal’s ancient cultural heritage. It is built upon a rich tradition of Nepali hospitality and incorporates some of the country’s most exquisite architectural traditions. The amalgamation of Nepal’s heritage with its longstanding tradition of hospitality makes The Dwarika’s Hotel in Kathmandu an intimate experience of a refined Nepali lifestyle.
Guests can unwind in one of 86 meticulously designed rooms and suites, which have been thoughtfully decorated to offer an atmosphere inspired by that of the royal suites of the 14th century Malla kings of Nepal. A wonderful assortment of menus are on offer at the hotel, where three restaurants and a bar showcase dining and refreshment options for everyone. Additional guest areas include a first-class spa, a fitness centre and yoga studio as well as a sparkling swimming pool inspired by the 12th century Malla Dynasty baths.
Dwarika’s offers four room and suite types, all decorated and furnished using locally-sourced and crafted materials for an authentic, rustic feel. They also feature beamed ceilings, tiled floors and spacious en suite bathrooms.
The categories differ in terms of their size, although even the entry-level Heritage Deluxe rooms provide plenty of space, with many overlooking the charming courtyard. Heritage Junior Suites feature a divan for a spot of relaxation, while Heritage Executive Suites offer further luxury, with open-plan bathrooms, a personal computer and expansive living space.
Finally, the Royal Suite is designed to reflect the homes of Malla kings, spanning an impressive 250 square metres across three floors. An open-air breakfast terrace provides views of the hotel’s courtyard and the Himalayan peaks, while a wooden deck overlooks the spacious living area.
Guests can indulge in a relaxing treatment in the hotel’s spa, which uses Ayurveda, Buddhist and traditional techniques. There’s also a library, which shows a documentary about the Himalayan region each evening, a fitness centre offering a complimentary yoga class each morning, an outdoor pool and a gift shop selling locally-made handicrafts.
Meanwhile, the business centre features three computers for communal use, allowing guests to use the internet and word processing programmes. Wi-Fi is available for free in some areas of the property, but there’s a small surcharge to access it in all areas unless you’re staying in a suite.
